Sprezzatura Nero Rapier

$35.84 $55.91
Sprezzatura Nero Rapier: The Art of Grace The Sprezzatura Nero Rapier pays tribute to late Renaissance fencing traditions. Developed with the Sprezzatura Wien Club and inspired by the Wallace Collection’s A613, this rapier combines practical design with historical accuracy, making it ideal for fencers focused on late 16th-century techniques. The name Sprezzatura comes from Baldassare Castiglione’s The Book of the Courtier (1528), where it describes the art of effortless skill. This rapier captures that concept through its balanced, efficient design, allowing fencers to move with ease while maintaining technical precision. The blackened swept-hilt features a two-branch counterguard, a big port, small port and two projections, offering full hand protection without sacrificing speed. The elongated flat-section blade delivers control in binds and precision in thrusts, aligning with methods described by fencing masters such as Salvator Fabris. The durable blackened finish resists rust, while the heat-treated guard ensures reliability under rigorous use. Featuring a dismountable design, as part of our Modular Sword System™, the Sprezzatura Nero is designed for HEMA practice and historical fencing, pairing perfectly with a buckler, targa, parrying dagger, or a case of swords. FEATURES: Agile and versatile: Around 1.2 kilograms, it adapts perfectly to Renaissance fencing techniques Dismountable design: Simplifies maintenance, transport, replacement and customization. Blackened complex hilt: The rust-resistant finish protects the hilt longer against bare hand handling and in damp environments. Heat-treated crossguard and blade Flat-section blade: the flat section imitates those found on original training rapiers. Comfortable ricasso: Rounded ricasso enhances grip comfort. Blunt edges, high flexibility and thickened tip: Prioritizes safety in HEMA training and competition Historical design with modern updates: Inspired by the Wallace Collection’s A613 and tailored for Historical European Martial Arts and historical fencing. The Sprezzatura Nero Rapier is ideal for Historical European Martial Arts (HEMA), Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA), historical fencing, stage fencing, and film productions. Its design reflects Castiglione’s idea of sprezzatura, combining functional simplicity with practical refinement for today’s fencer. Image Disclaimer: Product images are for reference only; actual appearance may vary due to differences in screen settings and display characteristics like resolution and color accuracy. Warranty Notice: These variations do not affect the functionality of the sword and are not considered imperfections or grounds for warranty claims. CARE TIPS Blade and Hilt Maintenance: After use, always clean the blade, pommel, and crossguard with oils like Gunex or WD40. Grip Care: Avoid applying oil to a cord grip. Instead, gently clean it by rubbing with a cloth soaked in a mixture of baking soda and vinegar. Leather Grip Care: Keep your leather grip nourished with leather oil or grease, but remember— protective products will darken the shade over time. Rust Prevention: The blackened finish, while durable, can transfer some patina onto hands or clothing and may develop surface scratches with use, so it may require some touch-ups with a standard cold blueing solution. Storage Guidelines: Store your sword in a dry environment and away from damp gear. Damage Prevention: Always round nicks or dents with a flat file to prevent breakages.
